The Christmas holidays are approaching, and sometimes we wonder how we can celebrate them, whether we can gather as a family, whether it’s advisable, or if we’ll find ourselves alone with the family member/person with dementia.
We would like to offer some recommendations based on our experience with these holidays so you can celebrate with family and in a normal way. It’s possible that changes to daily routines, especially those involving family meals and dinners, can cause disorientation. On the other hand, these holidays can also be painful because we may remember what Christmas was like before the person’s dementia began.
