En el Servicio de Oftalmología de la Policlínica Comarcal del Vendrell le realizamos una revisión para descartar las patologías más frecuentes en personas mayores de 50 años:
- Defectos refractivos: miopía, hipermetropía, astigmatismo, presbicia (vista cansada).
- Cataratas: pérdida de transparencia del cristalino.
- Glaucoma: aumento de la Presión Intraocular que produce un daño en el nervio óptico.
- Degeneración Macular Asociada a la Edad (DMAE): alteración de la zona central de la retina (mácula), en personas mayores de 65 años. Es la causa mas importante de ceguera en países desarrollados.
Para descartar estas patologías le haremos las siguientes pruebas diagnósticas:
- Refracción detallada, para ver si necesita graduación, o si la graduación de sus gafas es correcta.
- Exploración de la motilidad ocular y Cover Test, para descartar un estrabismo o una disfunción de los músculos oculares.
- Medida de la Presión Intraocular, para descartar glaucoma.
- Biomicroscopía y fotografía de Alta Definición del Polo Anterior del Ojo. Se visualiza la conjuntiva, cornea, iris, pupila y cristalino, podemos ver y enseñar al paciente patologías como las cataratas, donde se observa la pérdida de transparencia del cristalino.
- Retinografía: fotografía digital de Alta Definición de la retina y nervio óptico
- OCT. Tomografía de Coherencia Óptica: realiza un análisis minucioso de las capas de la retina, nervio óptico, cornea y cámara anterior, con imágenes digitales en Alta Definición. Podemos detectar patologías de la retina, como la Degeneración Macular Asociada a la Edad (DMAE) o del nervio óptico, como el glaucoma, antes de que se manifieste ningún síntoma y así poder poner un tratamiento que evite la pérdida de visión.
Asimismo, disponemos de las siguientes pruebas diagnósticas:
- Biómetro-Topógrafo: realiza un mapa de la córnea y análisis de sus características. Detecta defectos de curvatura. Toma medidas de las estructuras y de la longitud axial del globo ocular y calcula la potencia dióptrica de lentes intraoculares.
- Microscopio Especular: analiza las células del endotelio corneal, que mantienen la córnea transparente.
- Campímetro Computerizado: realiza un análisis del Campo Visual, para el estudio del Glaucoma y de patologías del Nervio Óptico.
