We are all clear that when it is cold it is better to be at home than outside, but… is our home as safe as we think? And in some situations, such as the increase in the price of supplies, it may happen that we do not have the possibility of having heating, a fireplace,… or not being able to have this on during the hours we would like.

For this reason, if our body is feeling cold, it reacts to maintain the ideal temperature and begins to accelerate the heart rate, increase blood pressure, stress,… leading to the aggravation of other pathologies that, above all, suffer from the most vulnerable groups.

On the other hand, if the house is cold, it is very likely that humidity and mold will appear with the appearance of microorganisms that can be very toxic since molds usually release spores that aggravate respiratory pathologies and can also decrease the lung function of people who suffer from them. They are exposed daily.

Furthermore, with regard to breathing, we must also take into account that humidity causes mites to reproduce more quickly, and with their feces they cause most asthma attacks in people allergic to them.

To combat these situations as much as possible, it would be advisable to ventilate homes even if it is cold since the condensation that is created inside causes humidity to increase exponentially. It is also advisable to cover possible entry of cold with adhesive tapes, thick curtains,…

And above all, as in all circumstances in which our health may be affected, we must always consult the appropriate professional if we have any questions or incidents.
